Laura Dassama wins ACS Early Career Award

Laura M.K. Dassama

Laura Dassama, assistant professor of chemistry, has won the American Chemical Society’s Infectious Diseases Early Career Award. The honor recognizes the scientific excellence of researchers who have made significant contributions to infectious disease research within the first decade of their careers.

Dassama will formally receive the award upon presenting her research at the ACS Fall Meeting 2026 in Chicago, Illinois. Her selection continues the award’s tradition of recognizing bold, interdisciplinary scientists at pivotal early stages of their independent careers.

Dassama is also an assistant professor of microbiology and immunology in the School of Medicine.
