Tim Jing and Jennifer Hamad will pursue master’s degrees at the University of Cambridge next fall.
Stanford senior Tim Jing, ’26, and alumnus Jennifer Hamad, ’25, are recipients of the 2026 Churchill Scholarship, which supports one year of graduate study at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.
The program funds up to 18 scholarships a year, including 16 Churchill Scholarships in science, mathematics, and engineering, and two Kanders Churchill Scholarships in science policy. Scholars are selected based on academic and research achievement. Established at the request of Sir Winston Churchill, the scholarship deepens the U.S.-U.K. partnership and advances science and technology on both sides of the Atlantic.
At Stanford, Jing is majoring in biomedical computation on the informatics track with a notation in science communication. A recipient of the Kanders Churchill Scholarship, he will pursue an MPhil in public policy at Cambridge, studying how policymakers can incentivize pharmaceutical resource reallocation to achieve greater health equity. He intends to earn an MD and become a physician advocate, working at the interface of global health and emerging technologies to advance health care access and clinical care.
Hamad graduated from Stanford with distinction and honors in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology. At the University of Cambridge, she will pursue an MPhil in biological science (pathology) and develop ligand-drug conjugates to combat immunosuppression in the tumor microenvironment. She intends to pursue a MD/PhD and become a physician scientist leading a research lab at the intersection of immunology, chemistry, and translational medicine while teaching as a professor at a research institution.

Jennifer Hamad, a recent Stanford alumna ‘25, who graduated with distinction and honors in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology is continuing her research in the Wender Lab in the Department of Chemistry. At the University of Cambridge, she will pursue an MPhil in Biological Science (Pathology). After her master’s in the UK, Jennifer intends to pursue a MD/PhD and become a physician scientist leading a productive research lab at the intersection of immunology, chemistry, and translational medicine while teaching as a professor at a leading research institution.
