The Department of Chemistry at Stanford University is thrilled to announce the graduation of our exceptional students from the Class of 2024. These graduates have demonstrated outstanding dedication, academic excellence, and a commitment to their fields of study.

In this year's commencement address, Professor Todd Martinez, a distinguished theoretical chemist and the David Mulvane Ehrsam and Edward Curtis Franklin Professor of Chemistry at Stanford University and a Professor of Photon Science at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, spoke from his own experiences of doubt and adversity to offer uplifting guidance to our graduating students on navigating challenges posed by skeptics. He encouraged them, saying, "When someone tells you that your ideas are not any good, you should double down and be reinvigorated to prove them wrong." Furthermore, he urged our graduates to "remember to be curious and attentive, act boldly, and be willing to ask for forgiveness when needed. And most importantly, to surround yourself with people who will continuously challenge and inspire you."

Participating in this year's commencement ceremonies included 15 undergraduates who had received their Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (Jessica Balbin, Alan Chau, Victoria My Le, Michael Lee, Cameron Bear Loughney, Matthew Erik Martinez, Sara Brigham Mixon, Khanh P Nguyen, Elizabeth Palafox, Matteo de Carli Perper, Frederick Nitta, Jenny Qianwen Shi, Camille Leihulu Slagle, Stefan Victor Velculescu, and Athena Zile Xue) along with 19 doctoral students who received their Ph.D. in Chemistry (Jasper Ainsworth, Kayla Patricia Barker, John Michael Bennett, Augustin Francois Valery Braun, Yuelang Brody Chen, Jerika Arielle Chiong, Justin Donnelly, Franco Fernando Faucher, Anex Jose, Veronica Lynn Li, Alexander Scott Powers, Harrison Patrick Rahn, Heegwang Roh, Philaphon Sayavong, Jiuzhi Gillian Sun, Khoi Nguyen Tran, Ching Ting Tsai, Amanda Lauren Wiggenhorn, and Cristián Pacheco Woroch).
