Physical Chemistry Seminar: Professor Elad Harel, Northwestern University, Sapp Center Lecture Hall, 4:30pm (Host: Mike Fayer)

About the Seminar:

"A Multi-dimensional Approach to Track Molecular Dynamics at Extreme Scales"

Our lab is developing new approaches to examine charge carrier dynamics in complex molecular systems at extreme spatial and temporal scales.  Recently, our group has developed coherent 4D Electronic-Raman spectroscopy and spectrally-resolved transient-absorption microscopy, methods that are uniquely sensitive to electron-phonon-vibrational interactions.  We highlight the use of these complimentary techniques for examining a diverse range of systems from pigment-protein complexes to hybrid lead halide perovskites.

About the Speaker:

Elad is the Irving M. Klotz Professor of Chemistry at Northwestern University.  His research involves the development and application of nonlinear spectroscopic and imaging methods.  He oversees a broad multidisciplinary research program that encompasses diverse fields including chemistry, biophysics, optics, and applied mathematics.  Professor Harel has received a number of awards, including the Packard Award, Presidential Early Career Award (PECASE), and ONR and AFOSR Young Investigator Awards.
