Chemistry is the central science and lies at the intersection of mathematics, physics, computer science, and biology. At the same time, it has the power to enable new molecules and materials for use in materials science, biology, and human health. Many of the problems of the 21st century are fundamentally chemical problems - from renewable energy to remedies for climate change to novel therapeutics and diagnostics. The Stanford chemistry department aims to stretch the boundaries of chemistry and enhance our understanding of the fundamentals of molecular behavior.
To facilitate recruiting the next generation of excellent scientists, we are hosting a preview day for undergraduate students (from freshman to seniors) and graduates interested in pursuing a PhD in chemistry at Stanford University. We especially encourage participants who have the potential to enhance the diversity - broadly defined - in STEM fields to attend. Participants will attend an afternoon of activities which will introduce them to the department of chemistry at Stanford, connect them with graduate students and postdocs, and give insight into the PhD application process.
Please note that participation in this preview program is not a requirement for prospective Stanford Chemistry applicants, nor is it a guarantee of being accepted into the PhD program.
To view the agenda and further details, please visit the Chemistry Preview Day 2021 Website.
The Stanford University Chemistry Preview Day is aimed college undergraduates and graduates interested in applying to the Chemistry PhD program at Stanford.
We especially encourage participants from historically underrepresented groups (based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic status, and citizenship status, among others) to attend.
Please apply here by Friday, October 22nd, 2021.
Zoom links will be emailed to attendees before the event.
Although it is our desire to accommodate all interested participants, technical limitations prevent us from guaranteeing that. We will let you know if you have been accepted as soon as we are able (likely a week before the event).
If you have questions or would like more information please email to Emmit Pert at email@example.com.
